Trinitite 4 Sale

Trinitite is sold by size:
1 gm. - 3 gm. pieces @ $12/gm.

All the trinitite sold here is from the Wallace T. Smith collection unless otherwise noted. This collection has been documented and written about in the book: "Trinitite, the Atomic Age Mineral". I try to note all special features of each piece of trinitite in the specimen description. All specimens are photographed on a 1cm. grid sheet for size. Specimens are weighed on three separate gram scales for accuracy. Your scale may vary slightly.

This is a nice specimen of trinitite from the Wallace T. Smith collection, collected between 1947 and 1950. Wallace collected approximately 200 pounds of this material of which a few pounds remained when his estate was being liquidated. A lady who worked for the family obtained what was left of the collection and it has been documented in the book; Trinitite, The Atomic Age Mineral. In August, 2019, I drove to New Mexico to meet her and purchased a quantity of trinitite for a museum display I was building. I have finished my display and have a number of pieces left over that will end up in storage. I think they would be better off in the hands of collectors who appreciate this rare material.

This piece weighs: 2.9 gms. Photographed on a 1 cm grid sheet to show size.

Multiple inclusions. The bottom shows a black fusion crust that is thought to be found in pieces that were formed closer to ground zero. Very nice specimen from a historic, documented collection.

Specimen will be shipped in the plastic display case pictured and will come with a printout of the test results confirming the authenticity of the piece and an ID card for your display.

Trinitite is all that is left from the test of the first atomic bomb and is a piece of history that is disappearing fast!
