Sandy and I had a great time visiting the Cypress Gardens Fossil Show in South Carolina this past weekend. This show is a must for any serious fossil collector in this area. All the local divers come out to show their recent and past finds. There was a lot of great stuff to be purchased as well.

The show.

Fossil diver Donnie Edwards with some of his finds.

Paleontologist, Gerard Case was there selling his fossil books and specimens.

Every hour they held a raffle to give away fossil prizes.

A couple of cool finds from the Cooper River; above, a saber cat tooth. Below, a mastodon jaw with three of the teeth still in place, a rare find from the Cooper River.

The show was great as always, and it was nice to see some of my diving friends there. Derek and Mary Hillman came to the show and we met them later at the Ashley River bridge for some land fossiling.

The next day, we drove to Edisto Beach to check out Rick B's beach collecting site. We hunted the beach with Rick for a couple of hours and then had lunch at a nice seafood restaurant on the island. It was a nice get away from the routine of winter mountain life!
