Our M.A.G.M.A trip to Arkansas was a lot of fun. This was our first long distance club organized event and we had quite a turnout. I have counted 40 MAGMA members so far, and I will have to compare my list to the pics I receive to make sure I didn't miss anyone. The trip started at different times for some of the members. Some wanted to visit different mines at different times. We did not have a set in stone agenda. Lee and I had posted our itinerary as others did, we were joined by many members at the various mines.

Our trip began Tuesday the 29th, Lee and Nancy Holland met me in Asheville around 12:30 that afternoon and we were off!

Finally after driving into the evening, we crossed the Mississippi into Arkansas!

We decided to drive straight through to get into Hot Springs around midnight. The next morning (Wednesday) we headed to the Ron Coleman Mine. It was pouring the rain, Nancy and I opted to cruise around town and stay out of the downpour. Lee had other plans, he decided to dig at Coleman's.

That afternoon, we decided to head over to the Lonesome Dove to make sure we knew where it was.

We found the mine and Reed Miner camped out in the rain.

Mark Sr. and Mark Jr. were at the site digging in the rain with Keith Phagan and a couple of other members.

Meanwhile, other members were arriving in town. Many were staying in Mt. Ida at the Crystal Inn. Mount Ida claims "population 981" on their sign as you enter town, M.A.G.M.A. boosted that to well over 1,000 for a few days.
