New members Richard and James Chatham joined us for the dig, Richard was trying to figure out what to look for when he brought this piece to me to look at.
It was a big, fat 2" x 2" hex corundum crystal, terminated on both ends, he had hit the jackpot first thing in the morning!
Richard and his crystal.
Richard was digging on one side of the creek bed and Grant Kidd was on the other side, it wasn't long before Grant pulled out a whopper of his own.
A nice 2-3 pound corundum specimen.
Of course Grant would not quit with that, so he reached back into his hole and pulled out another piece!
Another 2-3 pound hunk of corundum.
Some of us stayed at the Herbert while a few others decided to check out some other areas.
