Hello all, made my first winter/fall fieldtrip to the lake last Friday with MAGMA member Bill. We started off around 9:00 Friday morning, on the way to the lake we inspected several other corundum locations for access and a nice olivine peridot location, the olivine has veins of pink corundum running through it, after checking out these sites for future fieldtrips we continued on to the lake. Once we arrived we realized that the recent flooding had slowed the process of lowering the lake water level, we decided to check out a couple of locations and dig near the shoreline. After only a couple of hours we had found quite a few nice pieces, one location was loaded with nice rutile crystals mixed with the sapphire, many of the rutiles showed good crystal form and a red translucent color.

Bill.

The water level was still pretty high.

My haul for the day, lots of nice pinks, reds and purples, the rutile is on the right, one dark blue sapphire (bottom), one terminated quartz crystal, not bad for a couple of hours work.
