Field Trip Report: Crabtree Emerald Mine Photos by Rick Jacquot
Another nice beryl crystal.
A matrix piece spotted after washing some of the dumps.
Another nice piece to be cabbed.
David Hotelling
David found this fat little emerald, it should cut around a 2 carat stone.
This gives a whole new meaning to "green teeth"
One of our Junior members with some beryl in matrix.
I spent time digging in one little spot about a foot down, then I hung around where David was using the pump. The dumps at the mine are loaded with small single crystals and small matrix pieces for cabbing. I doubt it will run out anytime soon.
I spotted these guys when I was leaving the mine, I think they are the ones who keep saying there is nothing at the Crabtree Mine!
