Fieldtrip Report:
I know I said I was only going to post two of the specimens I collected on this trip, but I had to share this one piece with the rest of you, I had put the smaller clusters of smoky amethyst in some iron out to soak for a couple of days, I took this piece out today to check it, the largest crystals on the piece are 1 1/4" diameter, the specimen measures 4" long x 2" wide, I wanted you to see the very cool phantom growth zones inside the crystals, by moving the crystals around at different angles the zones are very pronounced, but held at some angles, you cannot see them at all, neat stuff, all the below pics are of the same specimen at different angles:
