On Sunday afternoon one of our new members hit a great vein of amethyst, he found several nice plates and crystals.

This is a picture of my first pick from the split. It is ready for a ride to it's new home, in Florida! I got back to camp with it and Ray fell in love with the rock, he loved it so much I just had to let him have it, Ray had just the right amount of love to get it from me 8^)

This was one of the best MAGMA digs ever. Everyone I saw was finding great specimens. I want to thank all of those who prepared the great meals for us on Friday and Saturday night and Angela for the great breakfast food, Keith, Mark, Rick B. Nancy, Ron, Angela and anyone else I missed, the food was fantastic, Chet even stopped by and had dinner with us Saturday night. Ribs, pork, hotdogs, fish, hushpuppies, its all good!

There is one thing I noticed while doing this report, the amount of kids who found great mineral specimens and were having a blast digging them up. All the pictures of smiling faces gives me hope for the future of this hobby. I belong to several other clubs where membership is dwindling and there is practically no participation from kids or young adults. We must be doing something right to have so many young people attending our digs and having fun camping and collecting with us, lets keep up the good work!
