Fieldtrip Report:
Diamond Hill Quartz Prospect Photos by: Friday night we all sat by the fire and shared tales of our rockhounding adventures. Saturday, I had to leave the mine early to head about 30 minutes away for our crystal divvy from the machine dig. This process usually takes all day so I left Lee in charge of things at the club dig while I was gone. Once at the divvy, we all worked to sort out the numerous crystals and get ready to divide things up between the diggers. Steve and Romin Two large drusy crystal plates recovered during the machine dig. This 800 pound specimen was the largest to come out during the machine dig, it is covered with large crystals 2-4" in diameter. (See Mark for scale) This piece is the best of three or four geodes we found during the dig. Until this dig, only the Jacksonville club had found a geode at this site. Page: (6) |
