Field Trip Report:

End of June field trips!
June 21st, 24th, and 25th
Diamond Hill, S.C.
Abernathy Mine, N.C.
Ray Mine, N.C.

After arriving at the creek, I showed our newer members where to begin digging, even after months of visitors to this site beryl is still abundant in the creek. Josh Gardner and his wife and kids were there only 5 minutes and had already found small beryl's and some amazonite.

Ed takes the time to id some minerals for our new members.

New member, Ernie Hollingsworth.

Colorado and Savannah joined us that afternoon.

Jerry and Tena also showed up that afternoon, Tena found some nice crystals in the creek.

A couple of Tenas crystals.

Grant working the creek bed.

I found several nice beryl's up to an inch in matrix that I gave away to the new members and those who didn't find much. I have my share of this stuff at home, I did manage to find another nice columbite crystal for my collection, it measures 1/2" long by 1/4" wide.

What a great way to end the month, new friends, many new club members, having fun and doing what we love to do. July is getting a bang of a start (no pun intended) for the 4th of July weekend with the upcoming 5 day camp out and dig, see you there!
