JXR Amethyst Mine
Final Dig!
January 13th and 14th, 2007Time to report on the final dig at the famous JXR Amethyst Mine in Wilkes Co. Georgia. Rodney Moore, for the past several years had this mine open to collectors and had recently decided to sell the property. Our club was granted a last dig at the site before it changed ownership. Despite all the digging that had taken place there in the past several months, there was still a lot of material found by the members. We had a huge turnout both days of the trip, with around 120 people showing up both Saturday and Sunday to pay their last tribute to the mine. There are a lot of pics, I hope you enjoy them.
