Trilobite Hunt,
Georgia,
April 3rd, 2005

A pic of the large column that RJ collected.

I took his column to the shop to be cut, it shows some banding with a calcite core.

We packed our equipment and specimens, made arrangements to meet the next day for our trilobite hunt, then we headed to our various hotels to take some much needed showers. Our member Steve had suggested we visit a local buffet for dinner so we did just that, you know I am such a health nut I usually don't go for those all you can eat places, but since it was a field trip I made an exception, 8^).

The Hunt for Trilobites!

The next morning we met at the entrance of the Weinman and then caravanned to the area where we would find the trilobites, around 20-25 members stayed for this dig and we all found many nice pieces. I did not take any pics at this location, but I do have a few specimen pics to share with you.

Above pics: the positive and negative sides of a 3/16" long trilobite.

Above pics: the positive and negative sides of a set of twin trilobites. Trilobites are approx. 3/4" long.

Several trilobites on shale.
