Fieldtrip Report:

New England Trip
July 3 – July 11, 2009

By Lawrence Davis and Steve Bonney

More Havey Quarry elbaite.

Elbaite, variety rubellite.

Bruised, but gemmy elbaite.

Havey Quarry apatite.  The termination on this one is quite complex.

Havey Quarry apatite, albite, and micro muscovite.

Havey Quarry autunite.  Our guide Nancy provided great tips for finding it here.

The Bennett Quarry in Buckfield, Maine was our destination on day six.

It rained steadily the night before and all day while we collected, which helped with surface collecting, but as usual digging was generally more productive.

Bennett Quarry beryl/aquamarine.

Bennett Quarry elbaite with albite.

One of Steve’s favorite combos-apatite with a columbite-(Mn) crystal in a cleavelandite vug.
