Our original plan was to visit two sites on Thursday, Ron Seaver was to lead a group to the Gap Creek location, and Steve Barr was heading to Diamond Hill. After seeing the weather report and record high heat for Diamond Hill, we decided to scrap that trip and split into several groups and hit a few different mines here in the mountains. Ron led his group to Gap Creek in South Carolina, to collect the banded onyx found in the creek and on the creek banks:
