Field Trip Report:

Buck Creek,
Clay County, N.C.
June 29th-July 4th, 2005

Our first stop was to a location I had not been to before and it proved to be a great site. While the other members were digging and sifting, I walked the area to see what I could find.

Ron Denton and his Wife.

Dave Hargis and new member Tom Morrissey.

Matt Hargis, Josh and his family and Tom Wright and his Wife.

I found this nice hex crystal cluster on the ground surface collecting this site.

Back side of above specimen, the piece is about the size of a golf ball.

I found this piece at the same location, laying on the ground. I still can't figure out why Ron didn't pick it up? he, he, he, it has 12 crystals in matrix on this side.

We spent a little time at this site and then headed to the other side of town, back to the Herbert Mine.

Through the rainforest that is Buck Creek.

Gene Jeffers

Josh and the kids having fun in the creek.
