July 4th Camp out and Dig!
June 30th-July4th, 2006

Our second annual July 4th camp out and dig was again a big hit with the club members. Some members (Lee) show up just to hang with the club as they have no use for corundum. Corundum is an acquired taste that some find rather bitter at times (especially when they aren't finding anything). I had planned to be at the camp area on Thursday, but home stuff kept me from leaving until Friday morning. I was surprised to see M.A.G.M.A. signs on Hwy. 64 as I approached Buck Creek Road, the signs led members down Buck Creek Road to our camp area, thanks to Ken for the signs.

Ken also likes to bring all his hobby materials with him to camp, he had a generator to run his cabbing and gold sluicing machine.

Rich and Pat watch as Ken hunts for gold in the local creek.

Ken wasn't the only one who brought his hobbies along, Lonnie and his Wife Lois showed up and Lonnie showed us how he knapps points.

Another one of Kens hobbies is baking, I fully approve of this hobby as it benefits the whole club.
