Fieldtrip Report:

Lake Chatuge, Clay Co., N.C.
Towns Co., Ga.,
January 28th, 2006

Grant Kidd

Nancy Wilson

Ed Wagner with a big load of gravel.

Chris Wells and a bunch of others surface collecting.

Club member Billy found this small piece of pink and blue.

There was a lot of white corundum found, this was a piece that Mike Wilson picked up, I saw some pieces about 3" in diameter.

A few sapphires that Chris Moss found.

Small pink and blue piece that I found.

In my book, I describe this location as the Jackrabbit Cube Ruby Site, almost all of the good color rubies and sapphires I have found here have been in the cube shape where they have fractured out of a larger vein, now, to find the vein.

We stayed at this site until around 2:30 and then caravaned to another location to search for more corundum.
