Field Trip Report:
Crabtree Emerald Mine One of the locals taking a nap in some rocks.
To work some of the older dumps, I had to move some very large boulders. One of the larger rocks had a nice vein of emeralds running through it. Gene Jeffers with a small matrix piece recovered from the boulder. As more emeralds were spotted, a crowd began to gather around the rock. Some of the pieces recovered from the rock. By the time the group was finished, I saw several buckets of cabbing grade material and a few nice crystals collected. Not bad for turning over one rock! |
