Fieldtrip Report:

Second Annual Southeast U.S.
Labor Day Gem Jam!

August 29th-September 1st, 2008

August 31st, Jackson Crossroads

As it turned out, the downpour the evening before had not really exposed as much material as we hoped. People scattered around on the massive dump piles and began digging. I was a bit dismayed in the morning, because most of what was being found was smaller specimens.

But, shortly after noon, everyone's hard work began to pay off. Diggers began wandering over to the hut to show me their finds, and several of them had some really nice pieces.

I saw some very nice plates of druse get uncovered, and quite a few good-sized amethyst crystals.
